About Fasquel & Co
Fasquel & Co crafts large format cameras the way one cuts a jewel or builds a ship — with slowness, precision, and a clear intent: to create a tool that becomes an extension of the eye.
Born from a love of ancient photographic processes and fine woodwork, Fasquel & Co is an independent brand devoted to building handcrafted large format cameras. Each piece is designed, drawn, and assembled by hand — in France — with the belief that photography deserves an object worthy of its depth.
The Fasquel & Co story began in 2022. At just 22 years old, Émilien Fasquel decided to build his first large format camera. With no physical model to follow, he worked by intuition, sketches, and a strong admiration for the legendary 1937 Deardorff cameras. Their minimalist elegance, strength, and craftsmanship became his core inspiration.
Driven by the desire to create something both functional and enduring, he built that first camera in his workshop — between trial and error, instinct, and patience. That inaugural gesture marked the beginning of an independent, artisan journey: to design cameras built to last, made for demanding photographers.
We believe in a philosophy that stands in stark contrast to industrial manufacturing. Deliberately. The wood is hand-selected, the joints are assembled one by one, the bellows sewn with care. Every detail matters, because each camera is built to last for generations.
More than just a photographic device, each Fasquel is a collectible piece, meant to be used, worn, and passed on. It is both a precise tool and a travel companion, ready to cross continents as well as decades.
Fasquel & Co is also a community of passionate photographers — those who love to feel the material, hear the breath of the bellows, compose each image as a ritual act. Together, we carry on a photographic art that is slow, grounded, and demanding.
We don’t build museum pieces. We build tools for those who want to slow down, frame the world differently, and give true weight to each image.
